RIVER ACCESS

Below ANEW is the river Petanu. Petanu is said to be one of the most important rivers in Bali, which connects to the famous Holy Springs of Tirta Empul Temples and the Presidential Palace of Tampaksiring. The strory of River Petanu and Tirta Empul Temples is the origin of the Galungan celebrations. Galungan means: victory of 'Dharma' universal truth and kindness over 'Adharma' its opposite.

Galungan is celebrated every Balinese year (which is 210 days) as a day of joy that reminds us all of the ultimate victory of good over evil.

We are currently clearing a path to the river and deciding if access to a small neighbouring waterfall called Gangganganand is possible from our site. Architects are working on a tower down the steep slope so we can access Petanu, creating an area for meditation there.

Before the river, there is a man-made waterfall where all the rice water in the area meets to run down to Petanu and eventually to the ocean. We are also in the process of calculating how much electricity a water turbine here could generate.

River Petanu should not be the reason that you invest in ANEW as we are still surveying all the practicalities, but it will likely be a great bonus and addition to what our centre offers.
